February’s weather is unpredictable, cold and dark. But it does not have to be that way on Fairfield’s campus with so many engaging events planned for students! I researched and reached out to Fairfield University Student Association (FUSA) and Fairfield @ Night to see what they had planned for the month! While looking at their social media and posters around school I have gained so much intrigue in the events being planned!
I took an anonymous poll on the popular college-age app, Fizz, asking “Does anyone go to FUSA or Fairfield @ Night events?” And got 2,083 “Total Fizzes.” The answer “No” unfortunately prevailed in the poll with 1466 Fizzes and 617 Fizzes for “Yes.” This poll made me realize that events on campus are not very much in the majority on weekends for students’ plans.
These organizations put immense effort and planning into their events, so I hope to attract attention to any students struggling to find a unique outlet for this month! I compiled a few events that can bring excitement or even relaxation to students during this freezing February.
FUSA is hosting the opportunity to go to a Boston Bruins and New York Rangers hockey game located at Madison Square Garden on Feb. 5! The Bruins and Rangers are both great NHL teams and would be absolutely thrilling to experience. Tickets are selling fast so take a look on the FUSA instagram as soon as possible!
Residence Life takes care of students in dorm buildings on campus handling problems and helping during times of struggle. They often host events in dorm halls and create a great environment for people to make new friends and wind down! I reached out to my RA to find out about some special events that Residence Life is planning!
Regis ground floor lounge is having a “Spread the Love” event for Valentines day on Feb. 9 at 8 p.m. Another special Valentines day themed event is being held in first floor McCormick lounge to make “Self-love Sand Art.” And if you want to open up to find more stag friends, the Gonzaga second floor lounge is having “National Make a Friend Day Mixer.” So bring your friends or even make new ones!
Fairfield @ Night holds fun and unique events every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 9-11 p.m. in the Lower Level BCC. After reaching out I was informed of so many fun and unique events happening on campus! On Feb. 6 Fairfield @ Night is hosting a DIY strawberries night, what a fun way to indulge in a sweet treat while doing it yourself! If you are a bit more competitive, February 7th they will be holding Minute-to-Win It Games to compete with friends and peers for some special prizes.
Into the New York Times games? Who isn’t? Definitely be sure to join Fairfield @ Night on Feb. 15 to play them with friends and leaders at New York Times Game Night! If you want to get crafty, Feb. 28 will be Custom Sign Making Night where you can design a sign of your choice to place in your dorm!
Fairfield has so much to offer; academically and socially. So taking advantage of everything you can while in stag country is totally important and can create memories and also new skills you did not know you had! This guide to just a few fun events taking place in February should help keep track of so many exciting and relaxing events to break up a weekend after a long week of classes! Keep a lookout on the FUSA and Fairfield @ Night instagrams to find out about more events to attend in the future!
