Downtown Fairfield is home to a vibrant dinner scene, filled with all kinds of restaurants to satisfy your cravings. Whether you want a cozy casual scene, a quick take-out meal, or a fine dining experience, Fairfield has it all! Downtown Fairfield is the perfect place for a college student to enjoy a delicious meal! Here is a list of my top five favorite places to grab a bite to eat.

Centro was one of the first Fairfield restaurants I tried when I was a prospective student and it’s still my go-to dinner spot. Their Mezzi Rigatoni alla Vodka is delicious and if you are a pasta-lover like me, I definitely recommend giving it a try.
Centro pasta is definitely my favorite, but they also have really good pizzas, burgers and salads. They offer European thin-crust pizzas, made with Toscano flour from Italy. My favorite pizza is definitely their Margherita, I highly recommend it.
(Geronimo bar and grill)
Very different from Centro, Geronimo Bar and Grill offers a wide variety of Mexican-inspired eats. This chic southwestern restaurant sources its ingredients directly from New Mexico. My favorite menu item is definitely their nachos, which can be customized with different toppings. The Geronimo Burger is also delicious, if you aren’t a huge Mexican food lover.
For those of age, Geronimo offers a large variety of fun, Mexican-style drinks. They are known for their delicious margaritas!

Romanacci is an authentic Italian restaurant, owned and operated by brothers Graziano and Maurizio Ricci. This restaurant is actually a chain and they just opened their Fairfield location last spring.
My favorite menu item is definitely their crepes, but they have a wide-variety of Italian dishes and desserts. They offer a 26 inch pizza, which is perfect to feed a large group, plus it is really good!

Along with Centro, Archie Moore’s was one of the first Fairfield restaurants I tried when visiting campus. The story of this American restaurant is that Irish immigrant Archibald Moore settled in New Haven and created a watering hole that eventually became the restaurant we know today.
This bar and restaurant has such a fun atmosphere, with vintage decor and a pub-like feel.
My favorite menu item is definitely their pulled pork sandwich, but they also have a lot of delicious sandwich options. Archie Moore’s is known for their famous buffalo-style chicken wings.

My last pick is not technically a restaurant, but it does have the most delicious frozen yogurt in Fairfield! 16 Handles is a self-serving frozen yogurt chain with locations all over the East Coast. We are just lucky enough to have our very own store in downtown Fairfield.
They offer 16 different flavors (hence the name) and a wide variety of toppings ranging from gummy bears to bursting boba pearls. My go-to flavor is definitely cake batter, but they are coincidentally adding new flavors for different seasons.
16 Handles is a great spot to unwind, bring your friends and enjoy a sweet treat after a long week. My friends and I are frequent flyers at this store and if you haven’t gotten the chance to check it out, I highly recommend you do so!
From casual pubs and fine dining to yummy dessert places, downtown Fairfield has it all. So next time you head downtown, give one of my suggestions a try to taste what makes Fairfield a foodie’s paradise!
