A word of advice: choose your advisor carefully

With registration rapidly approaching, students are strongly encouraged or required in the week before registering to meet with their faculty advisors. In theory, the advisor should assist the student in choosing classes that fulfill both major, minor and core requirements in time for graduation.

Sorry “Brokeback,” this one goes to Janet Krauss

Janet Krauss is a poet, a Bridgeport teaching volunteer and a Boston native. And after last month, Krause became Fairfield University's 2005 Adjunct Teacher of the Year. Krauss received the award from Academic Vice President Orin Grossman on Feb. 14, and she is excited about the opportunity to represent her department.

The sounds of science

Many students struggle while attempting to learn the intricacies of math and science. However, through a unique program that is sponsored by Bose Corporation, the National Association for Music Education and Fairfield University, students in Bridgeport are now being given the opportunity to study these subjects with the use of music.

FUSA courts Public Safety: protection or publicity?

As a result of last year's Student Survey, FUSA and the Department of Public Safety are working together to produce a pamphlet to help strengthen the relationship between students and Public Safety. The original reason for creating this pamphlet was a trend that FUSA noticed on the surveys, according to senator Ashley Toombs '07.

A potentially bigger and better act than Fairfield has ever seen is anticipated after it was announced announced at last week's Senate meeting that the senators were allowing the FUSA Programming Board to bid as high as $50,000 on this semester's spring concert.

Student computers at risk for seductive Internet virus

School girl fantasies gone bad. If that sucked you in, you're not the only one to fall victim to it. The Kama Sutra computer worm, discovered on Jan. 16, 2006, started spreading throughout the Internet via attachments in e-mails with similar subjects. Those whose computers were infected thus far should have experienced its affects on Friday, February 3, 2006.

Kelley Building takes shape

Finally, the mound of dirt near the track that we'd all grown so fond of has begun to take the shape of the long-anticipated Kelley Administrative Center. According to Campus Operations Director Ric Taylor, despite some delays in the construction thus far, the revised building schedule for the Adminstrative Center is on track.
