‘Tis the season for Simpson

Christmas décor, lights and trees are ornamenting the Fairfield campus, and blaring Christmas music can be heard incessantly throughout the housing complexes and the dining hall.

Knowledge is power: SMART teaches sobering stats

One in every five women is sexually assaulted in college. Due to the severity of this, Fairfield has a free, confidential program run by the Sexual Assault and Misconduct Response Team to help students. At the latest "Take Back the Night," a table was set up with posters and different pamphlets about the program as well as national statistics on sexual assault.

Selling of Xs and Ys produces vexes, whys

Pay your tuition with eggs! proclaimed one ad that ran in Ivy League papers. Another ad in the Yale Daily offered students that are "intelligent, athletic, blonde, at least 5'10", have a 1400+ SAT score" $50,000 for a donation. Still another that ran in the Stanford Daily offered $100,000 for the eggs of a woman with "proven college-level athletic ability.

Minding the mold: Officials meet with apt. residents

Derek Bickhart '04 and his three roommates live in the same apartment this year as they did last year. "We paid our money for damage fees, but nothing has been fixed. The carpet is torn and there is moldy, black spots on it, and the curtains have mold on them," he said.
