Dr. Jay Valentine is a visiting assistant professor of Religious Studies with a Ph.D. in Tibetan Buddhism studies. However, as a young undergraduate at the University of Delaware, Valentine himself admitted he did not foresee his life unfolding in the unique way it did.

No leads in Lantern Point theft

Fairfield Police Department answered the call of a reported theft at a house on Lantern Point early Saturday morning, officials said. Police responded to the house on Lantern Point between the hours of 11 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 1, and 12:30 a.m. on Nov. 2, and noted the incident had occurred after the residents hosted a party with numerous guests in attendance.

Deal done: Negotiations end, maintenance satisfied with job security

On Aug. 7, 2012, maintenance staffers of Fairfield’s Department of Facilities Management casted a majority vote to join Local 30 International Union of Operating Engineers, making them the first and only group of employees at Fairfield to unionize. It has taken over a year for Fairfield’s Administration and their Maintenance staff to come to agreeable terms for the new Collective Bargaining Agreement that the Maintenance staff made official on Sep. 9, 2013 after voting 28 in favor, two against, one abstained and one member of the 32 staffers who did not show.

Bridgeport hospital now digital

While students struggle to see the immediate effects of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, Bridgeport Hospital Yale New Haven Health has already begun the “huge undertaking” of transferring paper to electronic medical records.

5 reasons I love baseball more than football

People today will look at you in America like you’re crazy if you tell them you don’t watch football. I mean come on, you don’t watch the most popular sport in the country? You don’t dedicate entire Sundays to sitting in front of a TV? Come on, there are sold out stadiums every single week in every city... that is unless you’re Jacksonville, of course. Football is “America’s favorite sport,” but it sure isn’t mine.

Maintenance staff to rally Saturday

After the meeting with administration twice during the week of April 1, in “a total group effort,” the 33 members of Fairfield University’s maintenance staff - with only two members absent and one abstaining to vote - have voted down the administration’s initial contract offer and have decided to take action.
