With less than a month before the MAAC Championships, the swimming and diving teams are performing as well as any other school in the conference. The women's team is 5-4, while the men's team is 3-4. After a 40-day layoff, the Stags returned to action against the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) and swept the visiting Highlanders on Senior Day at the RecPlex on Saturday.

by Ryan Hull After swimming and diving finished its first half of the regular season over the weekend, the women find themselves contending for a MAAC title while the men are struggling to stay afloat in the standings. In their last team matches this weekend, the women defeated Siena and Sacred Heart in record-setting fashion, and the men fell hard to Iona Nov.

As both the men's and women's swimming and diving teams begin to make waves, roster depth is a positive indicator that neither team will be left on the standing's shallow end this season. The women's team hopes to achieve a third consecutive winning season with a roster that will be "as strong or stronger in every area this year," according to Head Coach Bill Farley, who begins his third season mentoring both the men and women.

The men's and women's swim team finished better than expected, placing fourth and fifth, respectively in last week's MAAC Tournament at Loyola. The men's team edged out Niagara by a mere two points (355-353) to take the No. 4 position. It was redemption for Stags, who lost the dual meet to Niagara earlier this year.

After struggling through the first part of the season, the men's swimteam still fares well for future performance. Captain Chip Stryker had some positive comments to offer about the team, and head coach, Bill Farley affirmed a confident outlook.
