An e-mail was sent out Monday by Fairfield University Public Safety to students stating, “An incident occurred recently at an off-campus nightclub in which a student may have been sexually assaulted,” according to the statement.

The purpose of the email was to remind students to “exercise caution when going off campus,” according to Associate Director of Public Safety Frank Ficko.

No more information on the incident has been released since the e-mail and flyers posted around campus.

“Based on the current status of the matter, I am limited to referring to what was covered in the campus notice and that the matter is actively under investigation,” said Ficko.
