The Fairfield University community mourns the death of Kristen M. Duhamel, ’10, who passed away early this morning as a result of injuries sustained as a passenger in a car accident on the Merritt Parkway in Connecticut.

Kristen, 19, was a native of Charlestown, RI. She was a sophomore in the School of Nursing and a resident of Jogues Hall on campus.

Upon learning of Kristen’s death, University President, Rev. Jeffrey P. von Arx, S.J., said, “Our community is always shaken when it loses one of its members, particularly an undergraduate student full of life. We invite everyone to pray for Kristen, her family, and her friends. On behalf of the University, I extend my sincerest condolences to Kristen’s parents, and we will arrange a time in the near future to celebrate Kristen’s life through a Mass or service on campus.”

The staffs from Counseling ‘ Psychological Services (ext. 2146), Campus Ministry (ext. 2550), and Residence Life (ext. 4215) have been available to Counsel students, particularly those close to Kristen. These services may also be reached anytime through the Department of Public Safety (ext. 4090).
