The time has finally come. Basketball season is beginning, which means the Red Sea is upon us.

For the newcomers to Fairfield fandom or those who have not participated fully in the past, this is the year to get involved.

Fairfield men’s basketball has been chosen by numerous media outlets and collegiate basketball analysts to finish at the top of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.

To help them on their journey to the Big Dance, they will need the support of loyal fans. With a large venue like the Arena at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport there is no reason why we cannot fill the seats to support our basketball teams in their endeavors for post season action.

Fairfield even has its own club for loyal fans, the Stags in the Stands. These members along with FUSA and the athletic department run numerous programming events to bring attention to the basketball season.

Not only is this year special due to our high hopes in MAAC play, we are also hosting the MAAC tournament in March.

From personal experience, I can say that having home court advantage in post tournament play is key. I traveled to Albany last year to watch our boy’s take the Siena Saints into overtime in the final game of the tournament. I am not saying that Siena won just because they had the help and support of an entire arena less thirty Fairfield fans, but it definitely did help them.

So jump on the shuttle to the Arena or make your way to Alumni Hall to cheer on both the men’s and women’s teams as they begin their long journey to a highly possible championship season.
