Sophomore Kristen Coleman knew that Fairfield University would be the place where she would excel as a Division I Lacrosse player since her junior year of high school.

She has proven her superb skills so far, earning three major MAAC titles in 2008: Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year, First-Team All MAAC and Fairfield Freshman Athlete of the Year.’ Reporter Janelle Cecco asked Coleman about life as a student athlete as well as interesting, yet peculiar facts about this promising Stag.

1)What is the biggest challenge you face both on and off the field this season?
I have a lot of expectations on and off the field. Because of our success as a team and individuals there is a lot of pressure. I have three more years left and its difficult knowing I have to not only live up to my performance last year but exceed it.

2)Do you think female athletes get as much acclamation as male athletes?
No they do not.’ But I think that the men’s sports tend to be more interesting to watch through the eyes of spectators.

3)Do you feel that people know who you are walking around campus because of your success as a student-athlete?
No.

4)If you were on death row, what would your last meal be?
(pause) A grilled cheese and fries with ketchup. I hope to never be on death row.

5)If you had a time machine, what historical event or historical time would you go back in time to?
I would go see dinosaurs.

6)If you could be an animal what would you be and why?
I would be, a dolphin because they are so beautiful and they travel in packs with their family.’ Everyone likes dolphins they swim and jump and they kill sharks which eat people and I love dolphins.

7)Do you like to sing in the shower?
Yes I like to sing all the time.

8)At the beach would you rather play in the sand or in the water? (Keep in mind that not all water is like the Long Island Sound!)
I love the water when it is warm but I also like when I am sitting in a beach chair digging my feet in the sand.

9)Who is the first person you call when you have a bad day?
I used to call my dad but then we got into a recession so I try to not put my problems on him. Now I call either my friend Taylor from home or SMS Mia Battagliola, class of 2011 because I don’t have BBM.

10)Who is the first person you call when you have good news?
My dad because we are in a recession and he needs to hear more positive news.
