The women’s volleyball team fell 3-1 to Saint Peter’s in the semifinals of the MAAC Tournament in Orlando, Fla. The Stags were the co- champions of the MAAC regular season and were looking for their sixth straight tournament title and a bid in the NCAA Tournament.
Casey Machon ’06 earned the MAAC Rookie of the Year award as well as All MAAC second team. She had an impressive first year with the Stags, compiling 322 kills, 279 digs and 71 blocks. She is just one of five in Fairfield’s history to earn Rookie of the Year award.
Teammate Kelly Sorensen earned the honor two years ago and has continued to contribute to the team’s success this season. She joined Machon on the second- team All- MAAC, while Kristin Anderson was named to the first-team.
The team has also represented the Stags on an academic level. Anderson and Becky Guess ’04 earned All -Academic Team honors.
