Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching, and love is in the air- and the pages. Romance is an incredibly popular genre among readers, with these sweet yet complex stories tugging at heartstrings. Here are some of my favorite romance books that I would recommend to anyone looking for some Valentine’s Day cheer.

“The Do-Over” by Lynn Painter

Lynn Painter is the queen of young adult rom-coms, with popular titles such as “Better Than the Movies”, “Betting on You” and “The Love Wager”. “The Do-Over” is no exception, and is especially perfect considering it takes place on Valentine’s Day- well, multiple Valentine’s Days.

Emilie has officially had the worst Valentine’s Day ever. Her boyfriend, Josh, cheated on her, and things simply keep going wrong. For some comfort, she visits her grandmother and falls asleep on the couch- but when she wakes up, she’s back in her own bed and it’s Valentine’s Day again. This happens again and again: an infinite loop of Valentine’s Days. Not only does she have to watch Josh cheat on her time and time again, but she keeps running into a boy named Nick in the most unfortunate ways. I loved reading about Emilie’s experiences as she tries to find a way out of the time loop while reliving the same day over and over. This was the perfect sweet, fluffy, feel-good romance.

“Picking Daisies on Sundays” by Liana Cincotti

I was introduced to this book through social media and was immediately drawn to its gorgeous cover and adorable title. I’m so glad I picked up this book, which was written by an indie author, because it has become one of my favorites. It is another young adult romance and is simply the cutest story.

Daniella Daisy is a hopeless romantic who has always dreamed of the love she watches in rom-coms. She thought she may have found it in her childhood best friend, Levi, but he didn’t feel the same way. Four years later, Daniella runs into Levi, who shockingly asks her to be his fake girlfriend for his sister’s wedding. The story follows the two as they rekindle their relationship, and the setting of New York City makes for such a fun read. A must-read for romance lovers this Valentine’s!

“One True Loves” by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Taylor Jenkins Reid, author of titles such as “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo” and “Daisy Jones and the Six”, delivers one of the most unique concepts I’ve ever read in “One True Loves”. While the previous two recommendations are more lighthearted, this is an emotional, thought-provoking romance read.

Emma married her high school sweetheart, Jesse, in her twenties, moving far away from their hometown and building an exciting and adventurous life for themselves. However, on their first wedding anniversary, Jesse is aboard a helicopter that goes missing over the Pacific and is presumed dead. In a panic, Emma moves back home and tries to pick up the pieces of her life. She reconnects and falls in love with an old friend named Sam, with the two getting engaged. But then- Jesse is found alive. What will Emma do, and who is her one true love? This is a different approach to romance, but an incredible one nonetheless.

No matter how you plan to celebrate Valentine’s Day, picking up a romance novel will undoubtedly help you feel the love. Grab a book, a cozy blanket, and some chocolates, and you have the perfect V-Day venture!
