For some seniors, graduation may be further away than expected

Second semester is almost half over, seniors are gearing up for their last weeks of care-free debauchery as college students. However, some students might just have one semester left. Last week, the university registrar sent letters to those students who are in danger of not completing the requirements for May graduation.

Withdrawl process complex; many students confused

Jessica Riley '06 had no problem withdrewing from two classes last year after an injury. However, when she wanted to withdraw from her challenging Italian class this year, she was denied. She was told she must continue with the class or accept an F. Riley didn't realize withdrawals late in a semester are not granted to students with unsatisfactory grades in their classes, unless they have an emergency situation.

Associate Dean Raymond P. Poincelot wears many hats in addition to his job as a dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. Poincelot is also the university safety officer and a professor of biology. So he has unique knowledge of the safety guidelines and procedures here at Fairfield University's science labs.

The student was referred to judicial. 4:57 p.m. - The smell of smoke was reported in Bannow. 7:28 p.m. - A theft of an MP3 player was reported from the Sodexho office in the School of Business.

Duffy prepares for his term

Paul Duffy, FUSA president-elect, was also a friendly bartender Monday night at the Levee. A busy man around campus, Duffy squeezed in an interview during his shift and in between his bartending duties. Duffy is "still on a high from the election" and although still just getting his feet wet in terms of actual presidential duties, he is excited to start getting his game plan together.
