Lights, camera, excitement! 2025 is shaping to be a blockbuster year for movie-lovers everywhere, with so many new releases coming. From highly anticipated sequels to fresh, new stories, this year is sure to make an impact in the movie industry. Whether you’re a big fan of romantic comedies, breath-taking thrillers, bold dramas or electric action films, there is something for everyone this year. Here is a list of ten of the most anticipated films of 2025.

One of the most talked about releases of 2025 is the live-action “Snow White” coming to theaters March 21. With Rachel Zegler taking on the iconic role of Snow White, this retelling of a classic Disney film promises to deliver a new depth to the beloved character. Gal Gadot also stars in the film as the Evil Queen and from the looks of the trailer, she is sure to bring a fierce, villainous energy to the film. There was some controversy when Rachel Zegler got cast as Snow White, because she is Latino and doesn’t have skin “as fair as snow.” However, through her work in previous films such as “West Side Story” and “The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes,” Zegler has proven herself as an up-and-coming actress to look out for.

First-year Olivia Stolar is really looking forward to the live-action “Snow White.” She says that she loves “how they appeal to both young kids and teenagers who grew up watching the animated versions!”

If you are more of a Marvel fan than Disney princesses, you are in luck because there are two highly anticipated Marvel films coming out later this year. If you enjoyed “Captain America: Brave New World,” released on Feb. 13, then “Thunderbolts” and “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” will be coming out soon to cure your Marvel-loving soul.

“Thunderbolts”, starring Sebastian Stan, Florence Pugh, Wyatt Russel and David Harbour, is hitting theaters on May 2. This highly anticipated film brings together an unliking group of anti-heroes including characters from previous Marvel films– Yelena Belova, Bucky Barnes and Red Guardian. Marvel has been teasing “Thunderbolts” for years now, bringing together every piece of the puzzle. It is sure to be an action-packed, thrilling watch that any Marvel fan will enjoy.

“The Fantastic Four: First Steps”, starring Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Joseph Quinn, is coming out July 25. This film is a long time coming for Marvel and fans could not be more excited. The original “Fantastic Four” film was released in 1994 and fans have been wanting a reboot in the Marvel Universe for years. This reboot promises to introduce a fresh take on Marvel’s first family, bringing together Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm and Ben Grimm in a new, action-packed adventure.

Keeping it in the Disney and Marvel family, another reboot is set to hit theaters May 23, “Lilo and Stitch.” I am a huge fan of the original movie, so I will definitely be sitting in the movie theaters on release day. This reimagining of the beloved 2002 animated classic is set to bring the heartwarming story of a Hawaiian girl and her mischievous extraterrestrial friend to life in a whole new way. Fans were worried about how Stitch would look in this more “live action” take, but from the trailer, he looks as adorable as ever.

First-year Molly Beauregard is excited to see all these new Disney films. She says, “I’m really looking forward to these movies because their stories have so much potential!”

One of my most anticipated films of this year is definitely “Jurassic World: Rebirth” hitting theaters this summer, July 2. I am a huge fan of every single Jurassic film and this new chapter is very exciting. Starring Scarlett Johanson, Jonathan Bailey and Rupert Friend, this story will dive deeper into the world of dinosaurs. While he is not directing the film, Steven Spielberg is one of the executive producers, which will make for a great film.

Moving into the horror genre, “The Conjuring: Last Rites” will be the last of the iconic movie series. Releasing Sept. 5, both Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson are set to reprise their roles. This latest installment in the terrifying franchise promises to delve deeper into the eerie cases of Ed and Lorraine Warren. This is a perfect watch for September, as we get into the spooky season.

Heading forward to the end of November, “Wicked: Part Two” will come out Nov. 21. Following the incredible success of the first film, this is definitely one of the most exciting film releases this year. “Wicked: Part Two” promises to be an emotional, spellbinding experience that will leave audiences both mesmerized and moved. Sophomore Jenna Walsh cannot wait for this film and says she is “so excited to see what happens next.” One of her favorite Wicked songs is “For Good” which happens in the second film, so she can’t wait to hear it in the theaters this November.

If you loved “Zootopia” as a kid, get ready, because “Zootopia 2” is coming to theaters Nov. 26! In this long-awaited return, Judy Hoops (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman) find themselves in more complex and exciting situations. The first film was released in 2016, so it’s been a while since we have seen these beloved characters on our screens. I recommend giving the first movie a rewatch before November.

Sticking to the Disney theme, “Avatar: Fire and Ash” is set to hit theaters Dec. 19, just in time for the holiday season. Director James Cameron is taking us back to the lush, breathtaking world of Pandora with the next installment of the “Avatar” saga. Known for its beautiful cinematography, this film will push boundaries even larger to capture stunning visual effects and immersive world-building. This film follows the life of Jake and Neytiri as they face new challenges in the world of Pandora.

As we get further into 2025, be sure to keep an eye out for all of these exciting films! This is sure to be a year for the movies, so grab your popcorn, get comfy and get ready to enjoy the cinema.
