On Saturday, Dec. 2, the 10th annual Popshop Holiday Market returned at the Fairfield Theatre Company from 10 a.m to 2 p.m. Hosting over 60 small businesses, the Popshop Holiday Market is the perfect place to get holiday shopping done while simultaneously supporting small businesses and making a difference in the local economy. This year’s holiday market was free for all, and the variety of vendors at this pop shop was impressive.
Having nothing to do on a Saturday, and wanting to get some of our holiday shopping done, my roommates and I hopped in the car and headed to downtown Fairfield. With the sun shining and the weather a mild 50 degrees, it was a beautiful day for a holiday market!
As we entered the market, we were met with a display of booths where various small local businesses were selling their products. We browsed clothing racks full of beautiful, trendy clothing items. We sampled delicious-smelling hand creams, soaps and facial scrubs at the Espalier Botanics booth. But my favorite booths had to be the beautifully handcrafted jewelry stands (some included Soja Designs and The Spark Bar & Rhubarb Jewelry).
I was tempted to buy just about every bracelet, necklace or ring that was displayed on all the tables. Some more of my favorite vendors included She Sells These Shells, Coastal Beads by Rebecca and The Clean Earth Project. Each vendor had incredible products to offer and I found myself tempted to make purchases at almost every booth.
As we continued walking through the booths, we noticed there was an indoor section that was host to dozens more booths. From jewelry to candles to clothing to coffee, there was no shortage of amazing products for all holiday shopping needs.
The Popshop Holiday Market brought out quite a crowd. I saw families shopping together. I saw young kids running around the booths, excited at the treasures that lay on each table. I saw friends, high schoolers, college students and many more. I loved seeing the Fairfield community come together to support small businesses and partake in a fun holiday event. I am always impressed to see the amazing products (often handcrafted) that each vendor sells. Though I did not end up buying anything, I had a great time at this year’s Popshop Holiday Market and even helped my roommates do a little holiday shopping. If you didn’t get the chance to pop by the market this year, you won’t want to miss it next year!
