Students who decided not to brave the rain and the walk to the BCC missed out on an hysterical performance by comedienne Alex House on Thursday night. House, who was a semi-finalist on NBC’s “Last Comic Standing,” has also twice won the Bud Light’s Ladies of Laughter Comedy Contest. At the performance, she claimed all her material reflects people or places in her life, ranking from her upbringing on Long Island to living with a very Catholic mother. The small crowd of about 40 students did not prevent House from enjoying herself or the audience, nor did it affect the overall humor of the event. Hutchinson Williams ’08 found himself the brunt of House’s jokes, as he showed up to the event wearing a suit. “What are you all dressed up for?” she said, “Are you the school mascot or something? Everybody seems to know you!” She was very versatile with her performance, as seen by her improvisational skills by feeding off her surroundings in the University campus center.

“She was a lot funnier than I expected,” said Katie Stern ’10. “The fact that she made fun of kids in the audience made it even funnier.”
