While there are certain exceptions, girls are more crazed emotionally about their former relationships. Chicks are by nature fragile and emotional creatures. In many ways they are similar to raccoons, they walk around at night, and are attracted to shiny objects. It’s hard to tell the rabid ones from the rest. Which one will end up frothing at the mouth come 5:00 a.m.?

But back to the question at hand (perfection is perfected so I’m a let ’em understand), guys think of their exes at specific times. First is when he’s had too many and all other girls appear unavailable. The guy looks at his cell and thinks about making that belittling call. It’s 4:00 a.m. you can barely talk, and you mumble, “Are you awake?” Make the call; you’ll be a stronger person for it.

Another time a guy thinks about his ex is when he looks at his checkbook. Memories of all the investments resurface, drinks at the bar, trips to McDonald’s for the $1 menu, handcuffs, bail money, prescription refills. What did it all get him? Nowhere. Also, when you apply for the job her father would have given you, that’s a rough one to remember.

Worse of all is seeing an ex with another guy. A sense of jealousy (a former sense of ownership) enters him, as he begins to compare himself to the guy she’s with. “What’s his bench?” “What kinda car does he drive?” “Is he ‘better’ than me?” “Does he have a larger shoe size than me?”

Possibly the only thing that’s “good” about an ex “is bragging rights.” Guys get together and talk about their most intimate experiences (whether gratifying or not) with their friends. Sometimes the truth needs some embellishment, but it’s whoever tells the best story that wins the most respect. Side note: you chicks do the same thing. I’ve seen “Sex in the City” so I know.

It’s always rough when you think about your ex, whether a guy or a chick. Sharing something special with someone else is always risky, and there’s always the potential for a bad, bad ending. Good luck.
