THE SMASHING PUMPKINS have announced plans to get back together to tour this summer, with the Californian Coachella Valley Music Festival on April 30 being their comeback show.

KANYE WEST, MARIAH CAREY and JOHN LEGEND are the first performers announced for the 48th Annual Grammy Awards, airing live on CBS from Los Angeles’ Staples Center on Feb. 8. Additional performers and presenters for the awards are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

JOHN LENNON’s handwritten lyrics to THE BEATLES classic “A Day in the Life,” from “Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band,” are being sold in a sealed-bid auction through March 7 at Bonham’s New York Auction House. The manuscript is anticipated to sell for two million dollars.

Band manager of THE VINES, Andy Kelly, told a fan site that the release date for the band’s third studio album is April 4.

50 CENT is being sued by Lil’ Joe Wein Music. The lawsuit which was filed last week claims lyrics from 50 Cent’s hit single “In Da Club,” off of 2003’s “Get Rich or Die Tryin’,” were stolen from frontman LUTHER CAMPBELL of 2 LIVE CREW’s song “It’s Your Birthday,” off his 1994 solo album “Still a Freak for Life.”

QUEEN is joining forces with BAD COMPANY/FREE singer PAUL RODGERS for a 23-date spring tour. It will be the veteran hard rock band’s first U.S. tour in more than 20 years. Tickets for the tour, beginning March 3 in Miami, are currently on sale.

DAVE MATTHEWS BAND is asking fans to choose an opener for their 2006 summer tour. Fans can submit up to five suggestions through the band’s official website (davematthewsband.com).
