People are starting to think about who will follow George W. Bush as president and discussing the possibility of Hilary Rodham Clinton beating Rudy Giuliani in an election. As they paint what they imagine November 2008 could bring, they tend to forget the only man who legislates as if he is going to examine his own conscience each November: Joseph Lieberman, Connecticut's newfound hero.

Animal House. "Old School." "Revenge of the Nerds." These movies have portrayed why kids really go to college. But what is the incredible force embodied in these films that is not present here at Fairfield? Fraternities. Footage of kegs flying out widows, students streaking through the quad and playing a practical joke on a neighboring frat is bound get anyone "frat-tastic.

Midterms over: Now “it’s time to get to work”

It was a thumping, said President Bush, in reference to the midterm elections. The Republicans lost control of both the House of Representatives and the Senate, which was expected by pretty much everybody but Bush. With a Democratic Congress and a Republican president, what happens? After a well-fought campaign with tons of mudslinging and name-calling by both sides, what happens? With new people coming in to power, many for the first time, what happens? One point is unanimous; its time to get to work.

OPINION: Students have to be social with no IM

Fairfield was deeply affected by last week's tragedy: loss of access to AOL's Instant Messenger. Most students encountered the message "You are attempting to sign on again too soon. Please try again later." This claim is outrageous. The true AIM user knows of no such thing as signing on "too soon" after their last session.

As much as the curvy roads on campus appeal to the NASCAR driver in us all, security has been forced to resort to stricter guidelines to create a safer atmosphere for pedestrians. But students have a mixed reaction to the changes. "We received many complaints about speeding on campus," said Mike Lauzon, assistant director of security.

OPINION: Commentary shorts…

I give props to Fairfield in regards to the televisions services. But with about 100 channels comes about 100 more commercials each time you turn the tube on. I used to find myself scrambling for the remote control when the commercials started, but then some good ones started coming around.
