Underclassmen charged to stay over Thanksgiving break

As the Thanksgiving season approaches, students from all over the country will be making the trek home in pursuit of rest, relaxation, and turkey. While most Fairfield students are making travel arrangements, some underclassmen are stuck at the housing department, requesting to stay in the residence halls for a fee of $35 per night.

"When students want to go off-campus for housing, we release them from their four year housing contract, which in turn releases us from being obligated to provide them with housing for the rest of their time here," said Gary Stephenson, Director of Housing Operations.

Event aims to raise funds for fighting cancer

Every five minutes, someone in the United States is diagnosed with leukemia, Hodgkin or non-Hodgkin lymphoma or myeloma. Every nine minutes, someone loses the battle. Everyday, efforts can be made to speed up the road to a cure. Fairfield University students have joined forces with members of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in its annual evening walk and fundraiser to fight the battle against these potentially fatal diseases.

StagPrint implemented to curb printer costs

Students were in for a surprise Monday morning when the previously free printing in campus computer labs became a thing of the past. The university implemented StagPrint, a debit-card printing system that works through students' StagCards. The system allows fulltime students to print 200 pages and additional printing beyond this would costs student ten cents per page.

A typical Thursday night in the Rec Plex weight room is a male-dominated affair. The tables turned, however, when the Rec Plex weight room threw its inaugural Ladies' Night, on Sept. 11. Ladies' Night is designed to give female students the chance to lift weights without the presence of the opposite sex.
