The last days: it’s time to say goodbye to high school

A friend of mine said a couple weeks ago, at the last Senior Mug Night, "This is first of the last things." And it's true. For me, the first of the lasts included the last Senior Mug Night, the last Glee Club spring concert, the last Theatre Fairfield show, the last Mirror article, and many more to come in the following weeks.

Adventures in Wellness and Prevention’s alcohol classes

by Bryan Mahoney Did you know that by excessively consuming alcohol it's possible that I, man among men, could eventually grow boobs? Yeah, I didn't either, nor do I really want it on my mind. But this was just one thing I learned during my adventures in the Wellness and Prevention's alcohol classes.

Student teaching: “The children are our future”

by Katie Doherty "Any ideas for what I should write about this week?" "I know. How about you write an article that portrays what you're doing in a positive light that emphasizes that you like what you're doing and that you want to continue with a job in teaching next year?" Those sarcastic, sage words of advice from my best friend got me thinking: do all 12 of you who read this article think I hate student teaching, and all I use this article for is to complain? by Ben Doody On Monday afternoon, as MAAC champion Niagara and 64 other teams prepared to play in the NCAA tournament, coach Tim O'Toole sat in his office and contemplated what could have been. Poor Sport: Confessions of a clueless (sports) man

The first hockey game I ever attended (Bruins), was quite a disappointment. Not because they lost, as my home team always loses when I attend the game in person, but because after the third period of the game everyone started to get out of their seats while I stayed in mine.

Finding roommates more stressful than school?

by Megan J. Mahoney It's that time of year again and the two most important questions on many students minds are who and where? Oh yeah, it's housing lottery time. A double in Gonzaga or Loyola? A five- or seven-man townhouse? A four-person apartment? Please don't say the dreaded Kostka-Claver suites! "We only had three people in our group because we left it to the last minute," said Britt Costa '06.

The Lynchpin: Saint Patty’s Day in USA just doesn’t compare…

Once upon a time there was this dude in Ireland. He was a slave, but then he escaped, and did a bunch of religious stuff. So he goes back to Ireland and starts converting people to Christianity, which really ticks off all these Celtic druids, but hey, what are you gonna do? Long story short, he died on March 17 about 1,500 years ago and now we enjoy delicious frothy drafts in his memory.
