Julia A. Hunter, a graduate of Fairfield’s Class of 2003, was killed in car accident last Friday on the Merritt Parkway. According to Connecticut State Police, the driver of the car, Hunter’s former roommate here at Fairfield, lost control of the 1993 Mazda near exit 40B in Norwalk. The car spun out, hit a guardrail, went airborne, and then struck a tree, according to the Journal News. The accident is still under investigation by authorities. Hunter, 23, died of internal injuries sustained in the crash. Hunter, originally from Iowa, had lived with her aunt and uncle in Westchester since her mother succumbed to cancer. “It’s hard to put a person into words. She was our Julia,” Virginia McSweeney, Hunter’s aunt, told the Journal News.
