Fairfield Introduces Four New Members

On October 6, 2011, Fairfield University introduced four new members into their Board of Trustees: William C. Crager, William P. Egan, Biff J. O’Rielly, and Reverend Stephen A. Privett, S.J.

The job of the members in this group is to make appropriate policy decisions and govern the affairs of the institution. Members are chosen based on their influence within the Fairfield University community and the extent of their field of expertise. Unlike other boards or groups in the university, members of the Board of Trustees are not responsible for day to day activities but instead make sure that the beliefs, mission, goals and objectives of the university are carried out appropriately for maximum profit.  The new members will begin a six year term starting this month.

Egan graduated from Fairfield University in 1967 with a degree in Economics. Egan has also served for 18 years on Fairfield’s board. Egan is the founder of and general partner of 2 Massachusetts based venture capital firms, Alta Communications and Marion Equity Partners LLC.

Reverend Privett, a native of San Francisco, was a provost and academic vice president at Santa Clara University. He obtained his doctorate in Catechetics and focused on the Hispanic Community in the Catholic Church. Starting in 2000, he became president for the University of San Francisco.

O’Rielly, a former resident of Kensington, CT and a current resident of Greenwich, CT, graduated from Fairfield University in 1980 with a degree in economics. O’Rielly has had experience in financial services, real estate, mass transit operations, and labor and government relations in New York at the city and state levels.

Crager graduated from Fairfield University in 1986 with a major in economics. He founded the firm, Envestnet Inc.’s, and led its strategic efforts. Envestnet Inc. is a New York based firm that serves financial advisers. Crager is now the president of the firm and is a recognized innovator in the financial services industry.
