On Tuesday night, the Levee was crowded with students filled with school spirit.

As they awaited the results for the new FUSA president, almost 100 students gathered around to watch the basketball game and show their stag pride in the FUSA election.

At 9:38, the big announcement was finally made and students cheered when Charlie Knights and Rob Vogel were announced the 65th FUSA President and Vice President for the 2011-2012 school year.

Minutes after the results were announced, Knights exclaimed, “I am really excited and grateful for the support. Both Julio and I put our best foot forward.”  He continued, “FUSA is ready to make a great move forward.”

Before the candidates discovered who won, Julio Gomez was pacing in anticipation of the results.

At 9:36, approximately two minutes before the winner was announced, Gomez claimed, “I am excited and anxious. I just want to know if everything worked out right.”

When asked what advice he would give to the next president, former FUSA president Eddie Muniz stated, “He must be ready to work. I wish him the best of luck. He must remember that everything he is doing is for the student body.”

“I want to thank the voters for their support,” said new Vice President Rob Vogel. “We wanted to talk to future constituents and get a good base of what people want. We will keep the students informed and allow them to really have a voice.”

In considering needs for next year, Jason Adames ‘12 stated, “The next FUSA president needs to be better at budget allocation.”

While listening to the results for the class senators, Deirdre Forrest ‘13 expressed her views:

“I hope that the next FUSA president makes the organization the pride of campus and creates excitement amongst the student body, taking the school in a new direction.”
