Reilly to return

One month after sustaining massive head trauma in Barcelona, Spain that resulted in a coma, Sean Reilly ’05 will be returning to the United States on Thursday.

Susan Fitzgerald, the director of the office of international education, has been in contact with Reilly’s father, talking to him every other day.

“We had a long talk on Monday and he said that Sean’s condition has stabilized enough,” Fitzgerald said. “The school’s insurance will cover most of the transport fee for him to come back.”

Reilly is breathing on his own and healthy enough to make the trip across the Atlantic.

Reilly will enter into the Kessler Institute, a rehabilitation center in New Jersey. His parents will also be able to finally return to the United States with him; they have remained in Spain with him since the accident.

Reilly’s parents also received a package last week sent by friends which included posters, cards and photographs.

Reilly’s father, Bill, has sent an email to Fitzgerald that he wanted forwarded to all of Sean’s friends who participated in sending the package.

“We truly believe that all of your united prayers and efforts have contributed to Sean’s stabilization,” his father wrote. ” When we read your heartfelt inspired messages, we receive the strength and belief that Sean will recover however long that may take.”
