COLUMBUS, Ohio – Filled with big, puffy couches and wooden tables perfect for papers and laptops, the MoJoe Lounge in the Short North is a quiet, low-key place for students to study.

MoJoe Lounge is open Monday through Thursday until 1 a.m. and on weekends until 2:30 a.m. The kitchen is open until midnight throughout the entire week and boasts a full bar.

Although the bar located at 600 N. High St. may be a bit unusual for a coffeehouse, for some regulars it’s the perfect place to study.

“I really enjoy the option of having a glass of wine while I study,” said Erin Jaworski, an atmospheric science major who frequents MoJoe Lounge. “Too much coffee makes me jumpy, and then I can’t concentrate. A glass of wine just works for me sometimes.”

MoJoe Lounge also offers plenty of food, ranging from stuffed pork loins to potato skins. In addition to the regular menu items, dishes not usually offered every day are featured periodically during the week.

In addition to great food and wine, MoJoe Lounge offers an array of features that may be conducive to the study environment, such as wireless Internet, a vast selection of comfortable furniture, plenty of caffeinated beverages and great music.

Jessie Walker, a worker at the MoJoe Lounge, describes the atmosphere as quiet and relaxed.

“We have coffee and plenty of couches,” Walker said. “It’s a great place to relax and study.”

For the coffeehouse lovers, Cup O’ Joe just happens to be connected to MoJoe Lounge, giving customers the choice between a meal and a glass of wine, or a scone and a cappuccino.

“I just love it here, I come all the time,” Jaworski said. “I love the atmosphere; not so dark and the music isn’t too loud. The food is just an added plus.”

If you don’t like to study in anything other than absolute silence, MoJoe Lounge is still worth a try. Try studying in the coffeehouse atmosphere or simply take a friend for lunch to try out the great food.
