When I came to Fairfield University, I was determined to make the most of my time here and to give back as much as possible to the university community. Reaching out to others through Board of Governors, the FUSA Executive Board, Orientation for ’05 and ’06, Hunger Clean Up, and Residence Life has taught me how to motivate and lead others to put proactive changes into effect. Anyone who worked with me can tell you that I am extremely dedicated to improving student life at Fairfield University, and that I will get the job done well. I will achieve the same thing as FUSA President for the year ’03-’04.

The key element for effective change on campus involves communication through a variety of channels. Many of us have experienced frustration because of a lack of communication here on campus, and many students feel as if they have nowhere to go to have their voices heard. I plan on utilizing all student media on campus to reach the student body. Under my leadership, all branches of FUSA will seek the opinions of the student body for programming and student life issues. I will be open to hearing all students’ voices about anything affecting the Fairfield University community, and I will do whatever necessary to find a more than satisfactory solution. There are solutions to the problem of communicating cancellation of classes for inclement weather, textbook lists from professors to the bookstore so we can get more money for buybacks, students’ frustration with university furniture in the townhouses, and catching the university community by surprise with the cancellation of varsity sports.

I will also strive to improve communications with town officials.. We need increased parking on campus, and they have attempted to block the permits for it. We contribute to the economy in town, and we should be able to use our Stag Cards in town and receive student discounts, as advertised. As President, I will pursue these issues to make certain that the administration and the town hear the voices of students.

Sincerely,

Caroline Conway
