The Best: Mo’s Wine ‘ Liquors

When I’m buying alcohol, I like to look around. It’s not often that I have enough money for much more than a bottle of Andre Spumante ($2.99), but that doesn’t mean I can’t do a little window-shopping while I’m there, and Mo’s certainly has an incredible selection. They’ve got an incredible wine selection, but like I hinted at before, I’m usually broke, so I just admire the supply. The whole place is very classy: automatic doors when you enter and exit, a fine selection of many different kinds of beer, and endless shelves of liquor. Usually, there are some pretty creepy people working at liquor stores, but the staff at Mo’s is actually pretty nice and helpful. Also, they are the closest liquor store to campus, so you never have to wait more than five minutes to pick up a bottle of Yukon Jack for that one last Monday afternooner before class.

The Worst: Super Discount Liquors

Super D’s only moved a quarter mile down Post Road, but it seems this shift has cost them the Fairfield Student vote. Unlike Mo’s, Super D’s lacks that new carpet smell and free poster giveaways. The liquor store has now down-sized and a smaller place means a smaller selection of alcohol. Most 30-packs are sitting out in the warm store because of the undersized refrigerator space. Super D’s has risen its prices and even their cheapest beers are a pretty penny. The store even has a smaller parking lot, but after this article comes out, there are sure to be more spaces available. It’s obvious that the owners of Super D’s were banking La Salsa and McDonald’s customers would trickle in after an extra value meal or an El Champion. So as students drive up to the light on North Benson, right or left seems to be the question to which way to go for liquor, and in this case going right is the right choice, for not going to Super D’s. Prices up, variety down, and no new carpet smell means a fall from grace for Super D’s.
