Coming out of a the fall season, the men’s golf team looks to find more success in the spring season, which includes the MAAC Championship.

The Stags will look to improve on last years’ eighth place finish in the championships. Last fall, in the NEIGA tournament, the biggest of the season, Fairfield finished in eighth place out of 43 teams and they hope to build on that in the spring.

Fairfield is led by its senior captain Dan Quatrocelli, who averaged a 78.86 in tournaments last season and finished fourth last season at the New England Division I Championship, shooting a 73-74 for a two day 147.

The Manchester native, who attended East Catholic High School, is a former Hartford Courant All-State performer. He finished in 31st place last season in the MAAC championships.

The Stags finished in ninth place at the Pizza Hut/Bell South Invitational on Feb. 27, with sophomore R.J. Zielinksi as the Stags top finisher. Zielinski was also the top finisher for the Stags in the NEIGA tournament and will be important to the team’s success this season. Quatrocelli finished in a tie for 35th place.

Fairfield returns all but two players from last season and has added three freshmen.

Kevin Fitzpatrick, from Iona Prep, was a two-time All-County player. Nick Gliozzo from New Jersey was a First Team All-Shore golfer last season. Kyle Morris, from Waterbury, Conn. was his team’s MVP last year. All three will be asked to make an immediate impact on the team.

The team returns to play over spring break, with two tournaments in South Carolina, starting with the Lonnie Barton Classic and then the Fairfield Spring Break Invitational.
