Although it may be better known as a shirt style, the sport of rugby continues to grow in popularity at Fairfield University. So far this season, the men's club rugby team has had a banner year. In fact, this fall the team performed well enough to advance to the postseason for the first time in 12 years.
With a win against MAAC foe Iona, the women's lacrosse team stretched its program record win streak to 10 games. The Stags' 10-1 overall record secures a winning season for the team, the team's first since 2002 and only the third in program history. After the successful weekend, the Stags moved up to No. 26 in the nation in the InsideLacrosse rankings.
The rule of thumb seems to be that traditions are meant to be broken, especially here at Fairfield (example: the decisive elimination of Clam Jam). Traditions tend to be among the few sacred and beautiful parts of college life - why do away with them? Especially in the spring, when thermometers rise just as class attendance plummets, traditions provide community-wide stress relief through exciting and often ridiculous activities for the student body.
Teddy Bears with Love participants have been bringing holiday smiles to children for the past nine years. Now, the members of the organization have a reason to smile as well. In March, Teddy Bears with Love received the honor of Outstanding External Program by the Association of Student Advancement Programs (ASAP), an organization run by students.
Open your eyes to female leadership To say that women are irrational and unreliable workers is outrageous. It is not only prejudiced and stereotypical, it is also inaccurate. Women, after centuries of oppression, have now risen not only in the work force but in every imaginable field.
Housing is currently the primary cause for concern among Fairfield students. While plans have been discussed and presented, no progress has been made and the problem continues to worsen. Last week, members of FUSA announced that they would take a stand against the administration's handling (or lack thereof) of this problem in the form of a protest.
On Saturday, April 8th, the Fairfield University men’s lacrosse team suffered it’s fourth straight loss, and fell to 2-6 on the year, with a12-7 beating dished out by the Villanova Wildcats at Villanova Stadium.
