Now on DVD is the most recent Wayans Brothers comedy, directed by Keenan Ivory Wayans and starring Shawn and Marlon Wayans.

Calvin (Marlon Wayans) is a pint sized but extremely talented jewel thief. Once released from prison, he is immediately hired to steal the Queen Diamond.

While Calvin and his cohort, Percy, are hiding from the police, Calvin is forced to drop the jewel in a woman’s handbag to avoid incriminating himself. They follow the woman, Vanessa (Kerry Washington) and her husband, Darryl (Shawn Wayans) home to reclaim their jewel, only to discover that Darryl wants a baby and he is disappointed that his wife, Vanessa, wants to pursue her career before settling down and making a family.

Considering Calvin is certainly small enough, he dresses up as an abandoned baby and waits outside the home to be picked up, so he can get in the house, get the jewel and leave. The family falls for it and takes him in. They take care of him with constant love and affection, so it is harder than Calvin anticipated doing his job.

From there on out, the movie is a series of gag jokes and every sort of humor one can imagine.

he baby is obviously a lot smarter than one would expect, his antics include aiming every toy he plays with so it attacks his father in the groin and drinking the beer that belonged to the man sitting next to him at a hockey game.

It is essentially lame and predictable, so one can consider this movie good for a few laughs.

When filming Little Man, the actors essentially never worked with Marlon Wayans, but with Linden Porco. Porco filmed every shot and said every line as the character of Calvin. The visual effects team then went through every shot and removed Porco’s head. Marlon Wayans then filmed every shot from the neck up, and was superimposed onto Porco’s body.

The Wayans’ brothers make it quite clear that they did not create this movie to intellectually stimulate. There is nothing to interpret. Take this movie for what it is and just laugh.
