It’s that time of year again. Hide the flip-flops and T-shirts in the back of the closet and pull out the mittens and holiday decorations. There is nothing like the feeling of Christmas in the air, but Fairfield University’s Glee Club annual Christmas concert will guarantee that this holiday season is the most wonderful time of the year.

The Glee Club, under the direction of Carole Ann Maxwell, will be putting on a two-day performance of its holiday concert titled, “Night of Wonder.” The concert includes performances by the Glee Club, Chamber Singers, Men’s Ensemble and soloists. The audience will be able to enjoy a variety of its favorite holiday songs such as “White Christmas” and “Little Drummer Boy.”

The Glee Club has been active in preparation this year for its upcoming Night of Wonder performances, not to mention its upcoming trip to Prague, Vienna and Budapest, where members will be performing at many different venues.

In preparation for this opportunity abroad, they have been learning songs performed in other languages.

Fairfield’s choral group, heading into its 61st year, also recently returned from a trip to Washington, D.C.

“Washington, D.C., was really an incredible experience. Being in such an unbelievable city with such unbelievable people – it was unforgettable,” said Brendan Sargent ’11. “We had time to sightsee and take in the city, but when it was time to perform we came together and sounded great. It was really something to have the alumni come back to sing with us too. It’s a good representation of what a tight-knit family Glee Club is.”

The Glee Club performed at a mass at the capital’s Holy Trinity Church and then held a mini-concert afterward. The Glee Club has its hands full of performances year-round.

Night of Wonder will be an enjoyable night for all.

As soprano section leader Kristin Levandoski ’10 put it, “Just come! Who doesn’t love Christmas music?”

Show dates are Friday, Nov. 30 at 8 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 1 at 2 p.m. in the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts.
