There was no running through the halls or screaming at the top of his lungs last Thursday when singer and guitarist John Mayer made an unplanned appearance at The Gap on Black Rock Turnpike last Thursday.

Since the artist attended high school in Fairfield and his parents still live in the area, he frequently makes appearances around town.

“He was very quiet, so we kind of left him alone,” said one employee at The Gap.

“He came in, shopped around, paid and left,” said Idalme, a manager at the Gap.

One Fairfield student who works at The Gap manned the cash register when Mayer went up to pay. Apparently, the only thing exciting about the whole event was that he bought some boxer briefs. This same employee, soon after exchanging money with Mayer, left for his break and went to Mobil’s On The Run store, where he bumped into Mayer once more. According to Linda, another manager at the Gap, Mayer used to work at that very Mobil station pumping gas.

While John Mayer’s music is a very large part of many students’ romantic and social lives here at Fairfield University, it is always good to know what he can still shop at The Gap, wear boxer briefs and pump his own gas at Mobil without being hassled.
