This past Thursday we said goodbye to Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and her poof, Pauly D and his windproof, waterproof hair, and Mike “The Situation” and his famous abs.
While some were sad to see the show come to a close, there were others who thought the season finale could not come soon enough. MTV’s “Jersey Shore” sparked controversy from the day it aired, but had through-the-roof ratings nonetheless.
In the last episode, we saw Ronnie and Sam vow that their love would go beyond the shore, Vinny take the dance floor for one last fist pump, and The Situation show his softer side by consoling Snooki after an unpleasant run-in with an ex-boyfriend.
Whether you loved the cast of the show or loved to hate them, the drama and the humor they brought to the screen inspired drinking games, Facebook groups and fan pages, new catchphrases such as “GTL,” gym, tanning, laundry, and of course tons of parodies and Saturday Night Live skits.
As the season finale wrapped up, Jenni “JWOWW,” Pauly D, The Situation, Ronnie, Vinny, Sam, and Snooki all said one last tearful goodbye to their summer at the Jersey shore and to what they came to call a family. It wasn’t long though before the cast was back together again for the reunion show and of course the episode was nothing short of entertaining.
From recapping their nights at the clubs, fights on the boardwalk, hook-ups, pranks, and arguments to seeing Ronnie and Sam’s relationship on the rocks, the reunion was a reminder of why so many enjoyed watching the show. It was eight people in a house, being themselves, and doing what they love.
Being from New Jersey myself, I can say that it is a wonderful place to spend a summer and while not everyone lives it up quite the way this cast did, I think we all can agree that summer can’t come soon enough, and the members of the Jersey Shore crew brought some summer fun and sun to our cold winter months.
