Okay, so it is not exactly Shakespeare, but they do make fun of the old Brit. At least that is how Reduced Shakespeare got their start back in 80’s.

The three man comedy troupe started by performing the “The Complete Works of Shakespeare (Abridged).” And then they went on to parody everything from the Bible to the history of America. They have performed all over the United States and United Kingdom, most notably at the White House – who knew they had a sense of humor?

The troupe not only performs live but also has shows air regularly on PBS, the BBC and Public Radio.

For Shakespeare challenged students the company has also published a book called, “Reduced Shakespeare: The Complete Readers Guide for the Attention-Impaired (abridged).”

The BBC called them, “One of the greatest, sustained pieces of physical comedy I have ever seen. There are brilliant pieces of comic invention. Go see. Buy tickets now.” They have also been called, “One of the funniest troupes in America theater today!” by the Saint-Louis Post-Dispatch.

Now Reduced Shakespeare is coming to Fairfield Quick Center this Saturday, April 21 to satire Hollywood. At 8 p.m. the group will perform “Completely Hollywood,” This will be an abridged version, of course.
