As America’s day begins in Maine, Spencer Thibodeau’s ’10 begins thinking about FUSA. The Portland resident, who is currently seeking the position of FUSA President, did not start his journey in the Pine Tree State. He was born to a bi-racial adolescent couple in a small Kentucky town and was adopted by a foster family in Maine. Thibodeau found his way to Fairfield for a visit and saw an image of what he wanted to be like in current FUSA President Hutch Williams. “Hutch Williams was one of the tour guides,” the day Thibodeau visited, he said. “Though he did not show me Fairfield, my parents and I were shocked at his spirit.”

His experience as a 2010 senator, serving his class, and the role of publicity director of the programming board makes him the right choice to succeed Williams, according to Thibodeau.

“I have built a coalition of [Senatorial candidates], IRHA executive board members and students,” he said, of those backing him for the presidency. “Together We Can” is Thibodeau’s campaign slogan, which serves an open invitation to all students to address issues together.

“I feel the other three candidates in this race will do well and wish them all luck,” said Thibodeau. “[But] I think that people should take a close look at what we have done here not just as a club but engaging with our classmates and [our] likability.”
