Irate editor emeritus:Facebook is for alumni, too!

To the Editor: Although I thoroughly enjoyed Kate Cota's gripping story about the social networking Web site phenomenon that is The Facebook ["Nearly one year later, FU weighs Facebook pros and cons," The Mirror, Sept. 22], there was one particular passage which made me feel quite faint! While addressing the legitimate privacy questions that the Facebook poses, Cota's first member on her list of possible identity-thieving individuals are Fairfield alumni! The very first! Cota writes that, "[m]any college alumni can obtain e-mail addresses from their alma maters," and that, as alumni, our "breaking into the site is feasible.

Getting fresh coffee before class is taken for granted on campus, but not many students stop to think about where their coffee came from.

Two years ago today, the United States was shocked by the worst acts of terrorism in American history. On Sept. 11, 2001 when two airline jets flew into the World Trade Center, over 3,000 civilians, health care providers, firemen, and policemen lost their lives.

Fairfield pulls rank in reports

A published report by the 2004 edition of U.S. News ' World Report has placed Fairfield University number three amongst the best universities in the North with master's degree programs. Fairfield has been honored for its freshmen class ranking in the top 25 percent of its high school class.

NCAA INVESTIGATION: Witness tampering alleged

The investigation into the Fairfield University men's basketball program by one of the premiere NCAA law firms in the nation continued as students filed in for classes last week. But that investigation, which commenced August 6, took a new turn this Sunday when a report in the Connecticut Post alleged witness tampering on behalf of former University of Nevada-Las Vegas coach Bill Bayno.

FU alum: great game, poor fans

To the Editor: Congratulations to Tim O'Toole, his staff and the mens' basketball team for a solid season and an NIT bid. Until Tuesday's NIT game at Harbor Yard, I've been embarrassed by the absence of student fans most of the games this season. On Tuesday I was embarrassed by their presence.
