To the Editor: Congratulations to Tim O'Toole, his staff and the mens' basketball team for a solid season and an NIT bid. Until Tuesday's NIT game at Harbor Yard, I've been embarrassed by the absence of student fans most of the games this season. On Tuesday I was embarrassed by their presence.

Who is APK? Last week many students were muttering that to their friends as they made their way up the stairs of the Barone Campus Center. Several Mirror staffers witnessed this, and we could not believe our ears. Honestly, how could someone not know the initials of Aloysius P.

For many months, Steve Hofstetter, the author of Student Body Shots, begged, pleaded, and groveled for us to review his book. He dangled what was the ultimate carrot: a free, autographed copy for a short amount of time reading and reviewing the book. What was there to lose? Apparently, the short amount of time it took to read it.

First Benny Hill. Then Monty Python. And now, Ali G. The alter ego of British comedian Sacha Baron Cohen, Ali G describes himself as a "Hip-hop journalist," and is the latest breed of British cutting-edge comedy to make a splash stateside, this time in the hilarious "Da Ali G" show, currently showing on HBO on Fridays after the mediocre "Real Time with Bill Maher.

George W. Bush's administration has provided a series of muddled justifications for the current war with Iraq. One rationale for war is the threat of weapons of mass destruction coming into use by terrorists against Americans. Certainly, placing one's faith in Saddam Hussein would be insane and I personally believe that the dictator has been pursuing terrible weapons.

To the Editor: This past Sunday we returned to school after four of the greatest days of our young lives. Our trip to the Bahamas was a once in a lifetime experience and it would not have been possible without the efforts of the FUSA members. Back during Homecoming week last October, FUSA brought in a group called "Outcast" to run a Survivor-style game show.

You have no right to protest. You should put your signs down and leave the streets of San Francisco, New York, and Fairfield, Connecticut. The right to voice dissent and engage in a campaign aimed at swaying public opinion is tied inexorably to the duty to vote and the obligation to correspond with our representative government.

There was a question in everyone's minds before the men's basketball team even took the court this year: Will this be Tim O'Toole's final season as the head coach of the program that in past years struggled to achieve mediocrity? The athletic administration, along with the university, answered that question by affirming its confidence in O'Toole and offered the fifth-year head coach and former graduate of Fairfield a contract extension.

The baseball team (2-9, 0-3 MAAC) was swept in a three game series this weekend against Siena at Alumni Diamond. Fairfield played well in the first game on Saturday falling 2-1 in extra innings. The Stags got a terrific outing from pitching ace Tom Maisano, '04.

Playing together has been the glue that meshed the men's lacrosse team's success this year, and something the Stags will need to continue to do when heading into their conference schedule this weekend. Fairfield finished its non-conference schedule Wednesday against Brown before traveling to Butler in the team's league-opener on Sunday.
