Comic Book Boy: Detective Comics #826

I know you are all breathing a sigh of relief that for the first time in weeks I have not only, not chosen a Superman book to review but that I have finally chosen a Batman title. That's right this week's best book was Detective Comics #826 and that choice was not an easy one might I add.

The Fountain: An anthology film unlike any other

What is death? Is it truly the end or is it just the next step? "The Fountain" examines and tries to answer these questions using an anthology story format but in an inventive new way. There are three stories involving two main characters which occur during three different time periods.

Stranger than Fiction: Shouldn’t be a stranger at the Oscars

Is it possible for a comedy to be more than just entertainment? Yes, and "Stranger than Fiction" is one of the rare comedies that is more than just entertaining and actually has critical merit. This is easily the best film I have seen this year and I am probably going to see it again at the first chance I can get.

Comic Book Boy: Superman Confidential #1

This was a tough week for me to choose a comic book to review considering I had so many to choose from. Action Comics #844, co-written by Geoff Johns and "Superman the Movie" director, Richard Donner, was a prime candidate for the book of the week, but I feel that it would be best to review this book when all three issues of the story are collected.

Spider-Man: Evolve or Why?

This book proves that which most any fan of Spider-Man comics knows all too well: writer J.M. Straczynski and the designer of the overall story for this book is out of his mind! "Spider-Man: The Other: Evolve or Die" is already too long of a title and serves as a form of foreshadowing, that this book would be too long.

Take a break from Shakespeare

Gen 13 is a comic book series with a long and complicated history. The series had one run, which lasted for almost eight years. Altogether, the series has 77 issues, as well as two special books and a magazine. There was also a revival series in 2002, which only lasted a year and a half.

Superman: ‘up, up and away!’

Up, Up, And Away! picks up as part of DC Comics' "One Year Later" storyline, which follows its previous "Infinite Crisis" storyline in which Superman has not had his powers for more than a year. But wait, when did he lose his powers? For those of you who do not read comics regularly, this is a perfectly understandable question.
