The No. 19 Fairfield Stags men's lacrosse team did all they could to pull off a major upset over No. 5 Georgetown on Saturday, but five second half goals was not enough for the Stags to pick up the win. The Stags lost 8-7 in Washington, D.C. and dropped to 5-3 on the season and 1-3 in ECAC play.

At this point in their careers, directors Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez can do almost whatever they want, and they proved that with their latest double feature, Grindhouse. Grindhouse features two movies, one directed by Tarantino and the other by Rodriguez, with fake movie trailers separating the two.

The Stags, who were ranked 20th in the country this week, moved to 4-0 on the season by defeating the 11th ranked Bucknell Bison, 13-7 in Fairfield on Monday. Senior Mike Bocklet led the way for Fairfield with six goals, giving him a team-high 11 goals on the season.

The field hockey team had a burdensome weight put on their shoulders this season as they try to repeat as Patriot League Champions again this season. Despite finishing .500 overall last year and fourth in their division, the team exceeded expectations and went to the school's first NCAA field hockey tournament by winning the conference tournament.

Consistent team play along with energetic performances by three freshmen led the women's volleyball team to two victories this past weekend at the Fairfield Volleyball Classic. The Lady Stags raced to an 11-1 lead against Harvard in the opener and never looked back.

In the last few years the men's soccer team has achieved national success, and this year they will try to do the same, but with a much younger squad. With the loss of Rob DeFaveri and James Glenhill, their two leading scores from last year, the Stags are depending on returning players to pick up the slack.

Youth and inexperience has been the biggest pitfall for the women's soccer team, who has struggled through growing pains thus far this season. Head coach Maria Piechocki says once the team gets better acclimated with each other, better results will follow.
