AROUND THE ‘HOUSE: Memorable ThankyGs

Finally, Thanky-G (am I really the only person who refers to it as such?) is upon us. Rather than meditate on what I am thankful for and how many papers I need to finish in this five-day time span, I choose to reflect upon the two most memorable Thanksgivings I have had.

A WORD OF ADVICE… on the holidays

My boyfriend invited me to go home with him for the holidays to meet his parents and just spend some time together during the break. The problem I have is that a lot of my relatives will be coming home to visit during the break, and I'm sure it won't go well when I try to tell them that I'm not going to be there.

AROUND THE ‘HOUSE: Beware of The Misery Roommate!

Twentieth-century French philosopher and writer Jean-Paul Sartre said, "Hell is—other people!" He probably would have requested a single in Dolan. I venture to expand upon his declaration and proclaim: "Hell is—other people making their roommates afraid to get out of bed in the morning.

If you venture into the movie theater showing "Punch-Drunk Love" expecting to view a simplistic, predictable, typical Adam Sandler movie, you might as well walk out or strap on your thinking cap. The film marks Sandler's most dramatic performance to date, and its credentials accentuate this refreshing, much-desired change.

SHE SAID: Parent’s weekend…good or bad?

Parents weekend, always a joy, said my bud Laura, almost in tears, as she watched the 20 people sitting with us begin to eat. In a quaint little restaurant in town, the craziness of parents weekend 2001 caused the waitress to completely forget about her meal, whoops.
