The winners of the 2014 Fairfield University Student Association presidential and vice presidential elections are officially Alex Cucchi ’15 and Anif McDonald ’16, respectively, in a landslide victory over the competition.

Derek Jeter gives his one-year notice

Well, the day that Yankee fans, myself included, have feared for about 19 years is here now as Derek Jeter has announced his retirement from Major League Baseball after the 2014 season this past Wednesday. This season will be the last for Jeter as he attempts to return from a myriad of injuries that limited his 2013 campaign to just 17 games.

The Stags sealed a 63-57 victory over the Canisius Golden Griffins after Alexys Vazquez ‘14 sunk four clutch free throws. The women’s basketball team is now 11-7 overall and 6-3 in the MAAC after winning their sixth consecutive meeting against Canisius.

Professor Profile: Pilotti named adjunct of the year

Dawn Pilotti ‘97, art history professor at Fairfield University, was named the 2013 adjunct teacher of the year. “I was excited and honored, but my students are the reason that I won the award. My students inspire me,” said Pilotti, when learning she had won.

Rees’ 100th win highlights men’s soccer’s season

In the 2013 Fairfield men’s soccer season, the team put together an 8-5-3 overall record while going 5-3-2 in the MAAC Conference. Six Fairfield student-athletes were recognized for the academic achievement as members of the MAAC All-Academic team: Jordan Ayris ‘15, Matt Danaher ‘14, Sean Fahy ‘14, George Newton ‘16 , John Sullivan ‘15, and Matt Turner ‘16.
