Crew takes 3rd at MAAC’s

The women's crew team was successful at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) rowing championships this weekend, placing third behind Marist and Loyola in New Rochelle, N.Y. Marist was able to win the tournament by a wide margin. Fairfield was led by the novice 4 shell which won its race by a lofty 12 seconds.

Women’s lacrosse top in MAAC

The women's lacrosse team was criticized earlier this season for having four coaches in four years, an unstable program and not enough players - boy, have the Stags proved their critics wrong. At first, this wouldn't seem like a true statement. Despite their opening game victory, the Stags followed up with a six-game losing streak.

Baseball struggles through youth

Fairfield's baseball team (6-22-1, 4-10 MAAC) has once again struggled through growing pains this season. The young squad has struggled with consistent play especially in league games. The Stags have one senior on the roster, pitcher Paul Gorra. Manager John Slosar explained that for the players on this year's team, the season is a learning experience.

You watched every game since the season started. You carefully filled out the brackets for the NCAA basketball tournament pool you entered. You dreamt about what you are going to buy if your picks won you money. You also broke the law. Oops. March Madness, the yearly NCAA tournament that recently concluded, is not only a time for the excitement of college basketball, but for the thrill of winning some cold, hard, cash.

Men's lacrosse assistant coach Andy Towers walked into head coach Ted Spencer's office Tuesday with a breakdown of Ohio State's game against Navy last week. The preparation has started early for Fairfield's game against Ohio State on Sunday, the Stags' biggest game of the year, but every game is just as important for the team, which must win-out the rest of the season to repeat as Great Western Lacrosse League (GWLL) champions.

Rugby celebrates 40th anniversary

They have never had an official coach or an official roster. Team morale. Loyalty. Heart. Those are the qualities the Fairfield Ruggers possess, all of which were demonstrated as 255 current and past players joined to celebrate their 40th anniversary as a club sport at Fairfield last weekend.

Conahan sets example for young Stags

Two-time offensive player of the week. First-team all-MAAC. Led team with 58 points. These are some of the accolades attacker Jess Conahan, '04, earned during last year's lacrosse season. This year she will be looking for another great year, and she hopes her team will do well also.
