What’s it like to work at Fairfield U.? Twenty-seven-year-old Miguel Alvarado has worked at The Stag since it was established. Throughout his time there, he has  worked beside his grandfather, uncle and aunt. Alvarado has big plans for the future and is currently working towards accomplishing his goals.

The Mirror: What do you find interesting about Fairfield?

Miguel Alvarado: How they put everything together. From the time I’ve been coming here as a kid with my grandparents, little by little everything starts to change. Now they’ve made it bigger and a lot cleaner.

TM: What is your favorite thing about working at The Stag?

MA:The environment is my favorite thing. Everything upstairs is just boring. Down here it’s just really fun.

TM: Have you ever worked Late Night at The Stag and how is it different from any other day?

MA: Yes, I have a couple of times but not a lot. There are a lot of students. We have to keep serving them and keep serving them. It’s fun because we get a lot of drunk students that come and some of them act like a fool. We just laugh about it and tell them later what they did if they don’t remember.

TM: What is it like working on a college campus?

MA: It’s good, actually. You get to meet other people. Some of them are from a different country coming in. Most of the people are just down for chillin’ so you can have a healthy conversation with someone and learn from them as they learn from us.

TM: Do you feel like the students have changed at all since you’ve been working here?

MA: Over the years, yes they have. When they started coming in as freshmen, some of them even from high school, we see them mature. The way the dress, the way they talk, they learn. I see a lot of kids graduate and everything. I feel like I’m one  of their professors. I feel like I’ve been going to school here for years.

TM: What’s the biggest change that you’ve noticed over the years?

MA: I would say the new parking lot in front of Bellarmine.

TM: What are your future goals?

MA: My future goal is actually I’m going to school right now for acting. All we do is joke around here, so I just figure I can actually do it. I’m going to try to see if I can get classes here.

TM: Do you know what you want to do with acting?

MA: I want to go for Broadway… If I could get into a movie, sitcoms. I’d rather go for a soap opera than a movie.

TM: If you could act with anyone, who would it be?

MA: Oh wow! You know, I’ve been thinking about that lately. I’d like to work with Vince Vaughn because he is so hilarious. I can see myself doing work like that.

TM: Have you tried out for any shows, like American Idol or anything?

MA: Oh no, I’m not that good. I don’t want to be looking like a fool. I’m supposed to laugh at them, not be laughed at. I signed up for “The Biggest Loser” so I’m trying to wait for that to happen. I just like to joke around. I don’t like to take life serious.

There are certain things that you have to take seriously, but anything that doesn’t kill me makes me stronger. So I make a joke out of it. That’s why you guys see us all the time joking around. It’s these guys here that make it a good time.
