Twenty female residents on the fourth floor of Claver have been told by Housing Operations that they must move out of their rooms by November 25.

A letter sent from Laura Cantrell, Associate Director of Residence Life, told the residents that the wing had to be emptied to allow for a wing of males to reduce the male housing crunch, causing men to currently live in temporary housing and triples.

Students in the wing, who live in rooms 413-426, formally received the letter around 9:30 PM Tuesday night. A meeting involving those who have to leave and to resolve questions about the situation will take place Thursday at 7:30 PM in the Claver fourth floor lounge.

The student handbook does allow for moves like this. According to the handbook, “The University reserves the right to move a student from one room to another when it appears in the… best interests of their fellow students or the University.”
