Pothole anger runs deep for students

Drivers beware: with the onset of warmer weather, more potholes are cropping up around campus, leaving some students concerned about their vehicles.

The roads around Loyola, the athletic fields, and the S-turns by the library are in particularly bad condition.

There have been some complaints about the roads but not an overabundance, according to Ted Hunyadi, director of Campus Operations.

“The road by the library is a problem area, and is blocked off for repair. We will be addressing significant amount of repairs for the summer,” he said.

Hunyadi also said there are about a dozen other areas that need to be patched, especially around Campion.

According to a security officer, these road problems occur every year when the weather gets warmer.

“They’re not a big deal-they get patched up quickly,” he said.

Housing works to improve Dolan water

After an extended period of unusual water coloration in Dolan, where water would sometimes come out with a brown tint, steps have been made to improve the situation.

Laura Cantrell, associate director of residence life and housing confirmed that in past years residents of Dolan Hall have experienced brown water.

“There was some plumbing work done during the 2004 spring break,” said Cantrell. “But lately I have heard nothing from the RHC in Dolan.”

Water companies usually flush the pipes in order to clean them out, according to Adrienne Vaughan, public relations manager of the Aquarian Water Company.

Vaughan suggests that students let the water run for a while in order to let it clear up.
