Dead heat in Democratic primary

A new CNN/Opinion Research Corp. poll suggested the race for the Democratic presidential nomination between Sens. Hillary Clinton of New York and Barack Obama of Illinois is a statistical dead heat in Texas, which holds primaries on March 4.

The survey, which comes out Monday, says 50 percent of likely Democratic primary voters support Clinton, while 48 percent support Obama.

When paired with the sampling error of plus or minus 4.5 percentage points, the race appears to be a virtual tie.
