Academic Vice President Orin Grossman announced that he would be stepping down at the end of the upcoming school year. In an e-mail to the faculty Grossman wrote:

I want to let you know that I have informed the President that 2008-2009 will be my last year of service as Academic Vice President. I am most grateful first to Father Kelley and now to Father von Arx for their support and confidence over the years. I thank each of you for your contributions to making Fairfield a stronger, more vibrant University, and I look forward to joining the active faculty July 1, 2009.

Grossman will return to his previous role as a full-time professor of music. He assumed the role of vice president of academics in 2000, after being named dean of Arts and Sciences in 1991.

Grossman, a concert pianist, has been known by many in the Fairfield community to perform the music of George Gershwin at the Quick Center for the Arts.
