To the Editor:

I read with disappointment the latest edition of He Said/She Said on the topic “Sex on the First Date.” Is there any editorial review of these articles before they are published? I understand fully that this section is supposed to be “tongue in cheek” and provocative, but the willingness to be so bold as to disregard the Church’s position on premarital sex and condom use astounds me. The Mirror is always readily available for parents and prospective students in the campus center, and I shudder to think of the quality of student who might not come to Fairfield because of articles like these. Should you be “tongue in cheek”? Yes. Patently offensive? No. Writers: Be creative, witty and clever. Not crass or obvious. Be proud of the Catholic and Jesuit culture at Fairfield. I am.
