It’s that time of the year again, where the drama builds, heroes are made, and a World Series Champion is crowned once again: MLB Playoffs!

After an exciting year of baseball, the playoff picture is set. Eight teams ready to battle it out to be the last team standing.

In one of the AL Division Series, the Anaheim Angels vs. the New York Yankees. The Angels have shown their ability to be a powerhouse throughout the league after having a remarkable month of September. The Angels bring a young and gunning team to face the legendary Yankees. The Yankees once again seem as powerful as ever and if the pitching rotation stays strong, they will be hard to beat.

Prediction: Yanks in four

In the other AL Division Series the Oakland A’s face the Minnesota Twins. After facing possible contraction this past year, the Twins have shown why they should remain in baseball. But with the A’s pitching trio of Zito, Mulder, and Hudson, I don’t see the Twins remaining in the playoffs for very long.

Prediction: A’s in five.

That would bring the match up everyone wants to see again: Yankees vs. A’s. I predict that whoever wins the ALCS will win the World Series because both clubs don’t have any holes. This series would be more exciting than any World Series match-up. But the winner of this series will be the one with the stronger pitching staff. With all the big arms these teams have, I wouldn’t expect too many high scoring games, but some unforgettable pitching duels.

Prediction: Yankees in seven.

In the NL the Atlanta Braves are going against the San Francisco Giants. Barry Bonds will be watched carefully in this series to see how much of an impact he can make, and if he can win his first post-season series ever. The Braves, as usual, easily owned their division and get ready for another post season. Both these teams are looking solid, and it will be a decent match up.

Predicition: Braves in four.

Then there are the injury-plagued Arizona Diamondbacks vs. the St. Louis Cardinals. Arizona will have to rely on its two big guns of Schilling and Johnson in this postseason, but they have so many injuries that their bench is going to have to come up big. The Cardinals have a lot of heart and want to win badly, and they will rely on a solid pitching staff and some good offense in this series.

Prediction: Cardinals in five

Braves vs. Cardinals. In the past Atlanta has buckled under pressure of performing in the post season, and that may happen again, as their pitching staff continues to age. The Cardinals are going to have to be flawless to beat this solid Atlanta club, and I think they have the tools to do so.

Prediction: Cardinals in seven.

So the World Series will come down to the Yankees against the Cardinals. But sorry St. Louis fans, your team’s magic will run out here. The Yankees are once again too powerful with pitching and offense, although their defense has been sloppy this year, that will not stop them from winning their 27th World Series.

Prediction: Yankees in four
